Mammoth is known mostly as a skiing destination but there is so much more.
I personally like Mammoth during the other three seasons with fall being my favorite.
Mammoth Mountain is an easy RV destination resort to get to from Southern California.
Mammoth is a great base to explore the Sierra Nevada Mountains. To the North you can get to Yosemite National Park and to the south is Bishop and the Owens Valley.
To the West is the dense forest accessible only by hiking with extra nice remote lakes and wilderness.
To the East is the remote White Mountain range and the rim of Death Valley that is sparsely populated
At 8000 feet of elevation, the city stays naturally cool during the region's summer heat waves. Nearby Bishop routinely heats to 105°F (40C) while Mammoth tops out around 84°F (29C).
The chair lifts operate during the summer taking mountain bikers and hikers to the top and expresses a spectacular view of Yosemite, Sierra Nevada Mountain range and Owens Valley,
There is a real nice RV park in town MammothRV.com. If you want to save some money you can park your RV in the parking lots for the ski resorts during the day and move before 10pm to a rest stop on the highway a few miles away and come back in the morning.
